The Ecolabel, also known as the ‘Blue Angel,’ is an EU-=issued environmental label. This certification is awarded to eco-friendly products and services which leave a lower carbon footprint than similar products. Criteria analysed prior to the issuance of the Ecolabel include, amongst others, the use of harmful chemicals, energy efficiency, water consumption and environmental impact throughout the life cycle of the product. The aim of the Ecolabel is to provide consumer guidance, and to encourage companies to take a more environmentally friendly approach. Products (both goods and services) bearing the EU flower logo have met all such criteria and, as such, have earned the right to become a member of the ever-growing EU Ecolabel community.
