United for cleaner trails

The concept of the Südtirol CleanUP Days is as simple as it is impactful: you can participate alone or in small, self-chosen groups, collecting litter along your favorite routes. You decide when and where to take action. Afterward, you can register your route, the kilometers covered, and your group size on the CleanUP Map (interactive map) under a team name. This way, it’s visible which trails have already been cleaned.

Free CleanUP Kit

Thanks to IDM Südtirol, the participating destinations, as well as the event’s partners and sponsors, you will receive a free CleanUP Kit. This includes a durable trash bag and a long-lasting stainless steel grabber. You can pick up the kit at one of the distribution points, which will be marked in advance on the CleanUP Map. Additionally, the map also shows the collection points where you can dispose of the gathered waste.

More than just litter picking

The CleanUP Days are about more than just cleaning up: participants can join guided CleanUP tours in the participating destinations. This is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and gain fascinating insights into the region from local experts.

10 Key Ideas

: I make a conscious effort to travel sustainably, such as by bike or public transport, and plan my trip in an eco-friendly way by sticking to official paths.
: I take care of my safety and respect my own limits as well as those of my group.
: Whether it’s mine or yours, if I see trash, I naturally pick it up.
: Young or old, I am just as responsible as everyone else. Together, we can achieve great things.
: In my backpack, I carry the PATRON CleanUP Kit, which includes a reusable trash bag and grabber. Gloves are also recommended. With the right gear, I protect myself and my equipment.
: I stick to marked trails and respect flora and fauna, especially in protected areas, young alpine forests, or similar locations. I honor private property and the regulations of conservation zones.
: I take care of my health and avoid contact with unhygienic or hazardous waste.
: I take the trash I collect with me and dispose of it properly, such as in designated bins, landfills, or recycling centers.
: I document and share my findings to inspire others to act, whether through conversations or social media with #grabitandtagit. This motivates others to join the #plasticfreepeaks movement.

South Tyrol CleanUP Days 2024

13 South Tyrolean destinations make a statement for a cleaner nature

For the second year in a row, cleanup efforts were organized in Eggental, Alpe di Siusi, Villnöss, Olang, and Aldein Radein, as well as in Passeiertal, Ahrntal, and the Gsieser Tal-Welsberg-Taisten region. Last year, five additional destinations joined the initiative, including the Dolomite Region 3 Peaks, Lana and its surroundings, Gitschberg-Jochtal, Lüsen, and Ratschings. In total, 13 South Tyrolean destinations made a statement for environmental protection.

These were the CleanUP Days 2024 in Ratschings

Dedicated participants make a strong statement

Ratschings also actively participated in the 2024 CleanUP Days! Under the guidance of our hiking guides Karin, Oscar, and Andreas, dedicated participants cleared hiking trails and parking areas in Gasteig, Mareit, Stange, Pardaun, and the Ratschings-Jaufen hiking area of litter.

A special highlight: During the event, participants met Magdalena Gschnitzer, a well-known figure in South Tyrol's environmental protection community, who is actively committed to preserving nature.

The CleanUP Days show that environmental protection brings people together: Not only did we clean the landscape of waste, but we also sent an important message about treating nature with care.
