The new Ibex via ferrata in Ratschings

The Ibex via ferrata offers something for everyone: from first climbing experiences for small children to challenging routes for adrenaline junkies.

The easier main route meanders expertly through the forest and runs over the striking pillar until shortly before the exit, then winds its way to the right over a system of ledges and extremely exposed edges to the compact steep face, through which the via ferrata leads to the wall book and the descent.

The variant with difficulty level E, which runs in a direct line over the steep face, and the variant with difficulty level E, which branches off from the main route at the photo point (Ratschings-Eck) and leads upwards over the protruding rock roofs, meet the main route at the right end of the steep face.

A short, steep via ferrata section then leads down to the exit on the existing hiking trail. The main route never exceeds difficulty level C and although the Pulvere rock looks rather inconspicuous from below, the route is very exposed.

The Via Ferrata in Innerratschings

Ratschings has recently added an impressive new attraction: the Ibex via ferrata! Near the head of the valley, above the Pulvererhof farm, there is a south-facing rock face that is quickly free of snow and dries quickly after rainfall. Thanks to these ideal conditions, the short approach and the picturesque, peaceful surroundings, the via ferrata is usually accessible for two thirds of the year.

unbenannt
Did you know? The name Ibex comes from the Alpine ibex (Capra Ibex), which inhabits the area around the via ferrata in Innerratschings!

Via ferrata for kids "Raci"
For the little adventurers, there is the “Raci” children's via ferrata. The mascot “Raci” accompanies the children on a 100-metre-long route and displays information boards to teach them the correct climbing technique, the right equipment and how to treat nature and animals with respect. This area is ideal for the first via ferrata experience for children and families.

There are also several particularly photogenic spots along the via ferrata with striking installations that invite you to take a snapshot. A large portal at the entrance offers an overview board with safety instructions, checklist, difficulty scale and topo to provide climbers with comprehensive information. Rest benches along the route invite you to linger and enjoy the breathtaking view over the valley to the full.

The Stohlwond

from Vertical Life on Vimeo.

The Alpine landscape at the back of the Ratschingstal valley is beautifully still. Nearly hidden, many varied routes ranging from low to medium difficulty await all climbers there. The close contact with the rockface and the indescribable feeling when you reach the top is what makes this sport so special.

The Stohlwond climbing garden faces south. This means you can have fun climbing until November. In autumn and spring, you might even meet an ibex or two here and have a chance to compete with them!
